'Olivier Theyskens, The Other Side of the Picture' book release

Olivier Theyskens, the critically acclaimed designer who left French design house Nina Ricci in 2009, is portrayed by Vogue editor Sally Singer and photographer Julien Claessens in a new behind-the-scenes work. Priced at $120, the coffee-table book is already available for preorder.


Other upcoming fashion book releases include works by photography royalty Juergen Teller ( Deste Fashion Collection, $16.50), Rankin ( Rankin's Cheeky, around $50), and Karl Lagerfeld ( The Beauty of Violence, $31.50).


Kate Moss for Longchamp handbag launch

The first lot of the supermodel's bags for the brand hits international Longchamp boutiques and a few select department stores (Galeries Lafayette in Paris, Selfridges in London). Prices range from €290 to €990.

season starts February 11

Fashion season really kicks off with New York fashion week, followed by the less commercial but more cutting-edge London fashion week. Milan's well-established, luxury-focused event opens thereafter, and the industry's epicenter Paris will be wrapping things up in March.

Taking over from maternity ambassadress Nicole Richie, who created a capsule collection for the brand last year, Klum has designed a line for stylish mothers, her first fashion design gig since closing her jewelry line in August.


Martin Margiela web auction
February 13

Web luxe store Istdibs will open an auction of more than a thousand Margiela pieces, including conceptual clothing as well as artisanal objects. The items were gathered by collector Marcia Berger, who passed away in 2008.


Net-à-Porter relaunches wedding boutique

The revamped web store will not only feature a wider selection of bridal dresses by fashion-forward designers but also lingerie, tiaras, and honeymoon swimwear.


Sonia Rykiel for H&M launch
February 20

After the French designer's much-publicized lingerie collection for the Swedsih retailer, Rykiel's second collection (a first in H&M's designer collaborations) of knitwear for women and girls (1.5 to 8 years old), accompanied by "playful accessories," will go on sale worldwide.


Other fashion releases for the month of February include Akris's first handbag range, Trussardi's first-ever women's collection, and watches by Jil Sander.

'The September Issue' DVD release
February 23

The DVD of the popular Vogue documentary will include 90 minutes of unseen footage and can be preordered via Amazon and iTunes.


YSL retrospective

The Petit Palais museum in Paris is staging an eagerly awaited fashion retrospective of French designer Yves Saint Laurent who passed away in June 2008.
