For £60,000 you could buy a brand new BMW, head off on an extravagant round-the-world trip, or even make a sizeable deposit on new house. Alternatively you could buy an 18 carat solid gold crisp packet clutch.

Selfridges is getting into the Christmas spirit with a range of exclusive gold bags.

The collection includes the staggeringly expensive £60,000 bag by Anya Hindmarch which comes in 18 carat, solid gold complete with gold-plated chain.

The bag which is described 'as wearable art' is made to order and is modelled on Hindmarch's signature autumn/winter 2014 crisp packet design, the standard version of which comes in at £995.

For the ultimate gift, the bag which can take up to 4 months to make can be personalised with the recipients name or a message.

And if yellow gold isn't your thing you also have the choice of a rose or white gold edition.

For a (slightly) more budget friendly options, the gold collection also includes exclusive designs from Simone Rocha, Sophie Hulme and Mawi.

All products are available to buy in all stores and online at Selfridges.com
