The new screwcap enhances the jasmine-scented, passion-fruity floral notes and lychee-like, spicy hint of gewürz, all enveloped in a crisp, grapefruity, dry muscatel/ gewürztraminer blend of elegance and freshness.

No big-name claret this, no fancy appellation and no oaky make-up to disguise the fruit. Just a plain, honest, young red Bordeaux with an attractive medium-weight fruitiness that does what it says on the label. No-frills drinkability for warm summer lunches.

An offer not to be missed, this vibrantly juicy, raspberryish Argentinian red made from the syrah grape is reduced until Sunday week from its usual £4.99 price tag along with its similarly gluggy stablemate, the 2002 La Consulta Malbec. Not much to choose between the two, both having the requisite bite for barbecues and grills.
