Five important things to think about before the Freshers arrive...

If the past few weekends are anything to go by, summer has most definitely arrived and just in time too. Strolling outdoors in the sticky heat watching everyone make the most of the fine tanning weather can be thirsty work though, and what better way to quench it than with an ice-cold glass of gin and tonic.

That’s why we’ve come up with a fool proof formulae for the perfect G & T...

Select a fine quality gin and pour one measure into a short glass over ice.

Cut 1 lime in quarters and squeeze two quarters into the glass, putting the squeezed pieces back into the mixture.

Pour the tonic over the gin, ice and lime, leaving 3 centimetres at the top and stir

Sit back, relax and enjoy!

For the perfect summer gin and tonic try award winning Blackwood’s Vintage dry gin, it’s the first gin in the world using local botanical ingredients from Shetland, the islands lying at the far North of Scotland. Bracing, crisp and richly aromatic, it includes wild water mint, sea pink, angelica and juniper berries picked on Shetland by local crofters as well as seven other botanicals from around the world.

With the highest accolade possible, a double gold medal at the World Spirits competition in San Francisco in March 2009, it seems we’re not the only ones that think this gin is top notch! For your chance to win a case of Blackwood’s gin to see you through the summer just answer this simple question…
