Five food blogs with buzz: meal planning and baked desserts

The top spot for this week's list of favorite blogs belongs to New York-based food writer Ed Levine, with Serious Eats.

A frequent contributor to The New York Times and Gourmet magazine, Levine has attracted a serious following with 1.7 million monthly visitors. The blog was also named Best Food Blog by the prestigious James Beard Foundation last year.

In the number 2 spot is a curious inclusion with an "organizing" blog, likely for its weekly Menu Plan Monday which helps busy families organize their meals.

Ratings are based on the rankings of Technorati, the first blog search engine that indexes more than a million blogs in the blogosphere.
