THE MONTH-LONG celebration of organic food and farming continues next week with an emphasis on fruit and vegetables. Events include:

A talk by Dr Jeremy Cherfas, of Henry Doubleday Research, on saving unusual varieties of seeds, at the Friends Meeting House, 38 Bridge Street, King's Lynn, Norfolk (Tuesday 18 October, 7.30pm).

Giant pumpkin competition and discussion on storing vegetables, Red Lion pub, Brimington, Derbyshire (Tuesday 18 October, 7.30pm).

Tutored tasting of French organic wines, the Organic Shop, St Helier, Jersey (Saturday 22 and Sunday 23 October).

Organic fruit tasting, juice pressings, best-dressed vegetable competition, harvest displays and garden tours at Ryton Organic Gardens, Ryton on Dunsmore, Coventry (Sunday 23 October), 0203 303517.
