Googlers search for cotton candy and tequila products this week

A countertop machine that uses hard candies to create threads of cotton candy has driven the keywords 'cotton candy' to the top of the Food & Drink product search category on Google this week.

According to Google Insights, the fun fair treat was the top rising search term in the products category of Food and Drinks. Over the last seven days, the search for cotton candy was 70 percent higher around the world this week as of September 13, 8 pm GMT.

It could also have something to do with the fact that it's cotton candy season in the US, where Kansas, Utah and Washington are currently hosting their state-wide fairs, while Maryland, Minnesota and New York State have just wrapped up theirs.

Meanwhile, a countertop cotton candy machine by Nostalgia Electrics is the first product search result on Google. The machine transforms hard candies and mixed sugars into spun cotton candy and retails for $39.99.

Tied with cotton candy, was the worldwide product search for tequila.

Here's the rising product search list of what web surfers around the world Googled over the last seven days.

1. cotton candy (+70%)
2. tequila (+70%)
3. food dehydrator (+60%)
4. Cuisinart food processor (+50%)
5. popcorn machine (+50%)
6. dehydrator (+40%)
7. Red Bull (+40%)

Rising searches highlight searches that have experienced significant growth in a given time period, with respect to the preceding time period.
