Starbucks announces launch of single-cup coffee pods
Wednesday 31 August 2011
Starbucks has announced that it will be selling single-serve coffee pods in department stores and specialty retailers across the US beginning in November.
In a market dominated by single-brew systems like Nespresso and Tassimo, the coffee giant announced Tuesday that it will be selling coffee for the exclusive use of the Keurig Single Cup Brewing System, produced and sold by Green Mountain Coffee Roasters.
The coffee will be available in their Breakfast Blend, Pike Place Roast, House Blend, Sumatra, and French Roast varieties, while the range will also include single-serve Tazo teas like Awake and Zen.
The K-Cup portion packs will be sold at grocery and drug stores, specialty and department retailers in November in the US, and will hit Canada in March 2012. They're also slated to become available online next August.
