No, international actor Bruce Willis has not recently been caught at 3am on a DUI, he has just become a (not-so-silent) partner in Sobieski, "#1 premium vodka in Poland" operated by France's Belvédère
S.A.
On June 3, Willis and the CEO of Sobieski Krzysztof Trylinski made an online clip confirming that Willis knows nothing about vodka and the he is the new face for the brand in Europe, China and the US.
When the partnership was first announced in December 2009, Willis enthusiasts posted these comments in a Wall Street Journal online forum:
"Die Hard, or drink trying!" "There are only two real ways to get ahead today - sell liquor or drink it. (W.C. Fields)"' - John Nadeau
"the vodka market is so saturated in the is country. real men drink gin or the brown stuff. Yippie Ki-Yay m-f-cker!" - Derek Marcus
And that is exactly what Sobieski and their creative team from Meter Industries had in mind.
The CEO of Imperial Brands Chester Brandes, a Sobieski distributor, told the New York Times on June 2 "that the company choose Mr. Willis because he was ‘authentic, likable and not superficial - plus he likes our vodka.'"
Their newly enhanced site TruthInVodka.com has fun features like "Ask Bruce" and "Bruce Has Ideas." Watch the campaigns that launched on June 3: http://www.vodkasobieski.com/ideas.php
A bottle of Sobieski runs $10.99 (€9.18) and is made from Dankowski rye at the
Starogard Gdanski distillery. Even though the campaign is about basics and simple well-made vodka, Sobieski also comes flavored (vanilia and cytron).
Other celebrities tied to vodkas include American business personality Donald Trump's Trump Vodka ($27.99/€23.40), American actor Dan Aykroyd's Crystal Head Vodka ($49.95/€41.75) and international mogul Sean 'Diddy' Combs' Ciroc ($34.99 /€29.25).
