Amazon rumored to be working on own-branded color tablets
Wednesday 15 June 2011
Amazon is hard at work on a Kindle eReader-like tablet with a colored display, according to technology researchers at Detwiler Fenton.
In a Research Note posted on its website on June 10 Detwiler Fenton reveals, "that Amazon (AMZN) is prepping a new color Kindle (code named 'Hollywood') capable of streaming video and to be sold with a promotional video service offering."
"The device is expected to incorporate a 10" color screen and have a more robust applications processor than that expected for the smaller color Kindles AMZN is also expected to launch for the holiday season," adds Detwiler Fenton, while also noting that Amazon "is expected to include its movie service for free for an unspecified amount of time to buyers of the device."
Last month technology blog BGR revealed that Amazon is readying two new Android devices for 2011: a dual-core tablet codenamed "Coyote" and a quad-core tablet codenamed "Hollywood."
