Current Google Insights trends: Eddie Long, 'Boardwalk Empire,' 'Glee'

Boardwalk Empire were among the top Google Insight trends this past week.

Bishop Eddie Long, head of the Georgia, USA-based New Birth Missionary Baptist Church was top of the Google Insight trends this week. The Bishop was accused earlier this week of coercing two young men from his church into a sexual relationship; the minister denies all allegations.

American TV channel HBO's new drama series "Boardwalk Empire," which premiered on September 19, was the search term with the second biggest increase over the last seven days. The series, produced by Martin Scorsese follows various characters in Prohibition-era Atlantic City. Some critics have described the show as "like the Sopranos but not the Sopranos." 

TV series "Glee" was also amongst Google Insights trends. The musical TV show returned for its second season on Fox on September 21; an episode featuring Britney Spears is rumored to be airing on September 28.

Sports-related searches for "F1," in reference to the recent Singapore Grand Prix, and Bundesliga, in reference to the German soccer league were also popular terms.
