Current Twitter trends: Best Chrome App, Kung Hei Fat Choi, White Stripes

Google is promoting the hashtag "#BestChromeApp" on the morning of February 3 to encourage discussion about its recently opened online Chrome application store.

The hashtags "#ifyouonlyknew," "#famouslies" and "#blackparentquotes" are in second, third and fourth positions respectively.

Twitterers are wishing each other "Kung Hei Fat Choi" for the Chinese New Year, a phrase that roughly translates to "congratulations and wishing you prosperity."

Microbloggers are lamenting the news that American rock band the "White Stripes" have "officially ended and will make no further new recordings or perform live."

"RIP White Stripes. That is a definite loss" and "Dear 2011, please stop being the year of band breakups. Bye, The White Stripes. :(," tweet The White Stripes fans.

The name of Britney Spears' new album "FEMME FATALE" is in sixth place, "Cyclone Yasi" moves down two places to number eight, American movie " Step Brothers" is in ninth place and the name of Egyptian president Hosni "Mubarak" is in tenth place.
