The name of American Major League Baseball (MLB) player "Nyjer Morgan" has sprung into the top position on Twitter's most talked about topics list on the morning of September 2 after he collided into fellow MLB player Brett Hayes during a September 1 game.

"Sonia Abrão," the name of a TV host in Brazil is in second place, followed by the name of American tennis player "Andy Roddick."

"A furious Andy Roddick became the highest profile casualty at the US Open as he crashed out to Janko Tipsarevic," tweeted microbloggers about the top-ranked American tennis player's shock loss to Tipsarevic in the US Open.

The terms "Tipsarevic" and "Janko" are also present on the charts in seventh and eighth places respectively.

The memes "#liesguystell," "#andthenihitmydougie" and "#offensivecompliments" are in fourth, fifth and sixth places on the charts.

The "Discovery Channel" jumped into ninth place on Twitter's trending topics Thursday as an armed environmental extremist was shot dead by police after taking hostages in the Discovery Channel headquarters.

On September 1, Apple revealed a totally new design for its iPod "Nano" MP3 player. The name of the multitouch device with "a stamp-sized screen" is in tenth place.
