Batman: Arkham Asylum is based on the animated adventures of the Dark Knight but flaunts the polished production values of a summer blockbuster. Imaginative flourishes punctuate every undertaking as you descend into Arkham prison for Gotham City’s criminally insane. Abilities, including use of the Batarang, grapple-hook and brilliant “detective mode” - allowing Batman to see his enemies through walls - are implemented intelligently, while epic encounters with Gotham’s villains are memorable experiences. This is not just the finest Batman game ever but an outstanding action adventure.
