Free app lets users design game levels, popular around the world

The iPhone application Burn the Rope, which normally comes at a charge, was featured as the 'free app of the day' on June 18, resulting in it becoming the most downloaded free application over the seven days prior to June 20 among iPhone users around the world. Players of the application (still free as of June 20) have to burn as much rope as they can, however the fire only burns upwards, prompting players to turn their device to keep the flame alive. The app also includes a 'puzzle of the day' feature in which players can download, play and rate levels created by other users. Burn the Rope was popular in North America, Europe, Australia and China, while in Japan the official iPhone app of McDonald's was popular and Italians were enjoying a riddle game. The top free iPhone applications by country* for the week, by number of downloads, recorded on June 20 can be found below.
