Ubisoft has released a story trailer introducing its Assassin’s Creed 3 spin-off, Liberation, due to launch exclusively on Sony’s PS Vita.
Set in 1765, Liberation follows events occurring in Louisiana as Spanish forces plan to take control of the south amidst the confusion caused by the beginnings of the American Revolution in the north (which is more the subject matter of Assassin’s Creed 3).
Just to show that girls can be just as deadly as boys Liberation introduces Aveline de Grandpré into the mix, a female assassin of French and African lineage who, like a superhero from a bygone era, poses as a slave to quell suspicions, before donning her assassin’s outfit when the need for bloody vengeance arises.
As befitting a game set in the deep south expect to traverse plenty of swamps, apparently even explore Mayan ruins and vie with voodoo – who knows, perhaps even Guybrush Threepwood might make an appearance.
Impressively the game sports similar advances in animation as seen in its big brother and makes use of the PS Vita’s touchscreen, motion sensor and built-in camera, as Aveline chains slow-motion kills, goes pickpocketing and, um, paddles her canoe according to the official press release.
Assassin’s Creed 3: Liberation will be available on 31st October.
