Exclusive: Ian Livingstone to write new fantasy story

Fantasy author Ian Livingstone is set to write a new short story as part of a celebration of videogames being held in Nottingham later this year.

The English writer, famous for the Fighting Fantasy series of books, is penning an original fantasy story for a 24-page magazine being launched by the annual festival GameCity which will run from October 25 to 29.

The festival is promising a strong line up this year with organisers unveiling a host of key speakers which include Richard Lemarchand, the lead game designer of the forthcoming and hotly anticipated release, Uncharted 3: Drake's Deception.

Another World creator Eric Chahi will launch the festival and discuss his new game From Dust, thatgamecompany’s Robin Hunicke will host a late night, large-scale projection of upcoming adventure title, Journey and Czech developer Jakub Dvorsky who founded Amanita Design is unveiling Samorost 3, Botanicula and what is being billed as a puppet spectacular called Kooky. “We’re hugely excited about this opening line-up for GameCity, it’s shaping up to the best yet," said GameCity director Ian Simons. "We’re just getting started with the programme for this year, with some huge new headline features yet to be announced.”
