Hot on the heels of hit beat-em-up Street Fighter IV comes Super Street Fighter IV, its rather predictably named successor. Capcom are already hyping the title, claiming this will be the ‘ultimate version’ of their release when it hits shelves on Xbox 360 and PS3 next Spring. Of course, fans will only be interested in how much more content is planned to justify the additional outlay and make the game worth a full release rather than simply a downloadable update for Street Fighter IV.

What we know so far is that Super Street Fighter IV features the full roster of 25 characters from Street Fighter IV such as Ryu, Ken, Crimson Viper, Abel, El Fuerte and Rufus, while adding about eight additional characters. The new roster includes a mix of classic combatants from previous Street Fighter games, such as T. Hawk, while all-new characters will also take a bow, such as the mysterious and deadly female fighter, Juri. New ‘Ultra Combos’ are also promised – hopefully for new and established characters alike.

Advancements to the online matchmaking system introduced in Street Fighter IV are also promised along with unspecified additional features. Capcom promise to ‘Take many of the groundbreaking features introduced in Street Fighter IV and refine everything to deliver the ultimate vision of Street Fighter to fans the world over’; let’s hope they make good on the promise.
