Games review: Muramasa: The DemonBlade

Format Wii

Publisher Rising Star Games

Take the beauty of a classically Japanese Kuniyoshi print, combine with the ballet-like fighting of Crouching Tiger and you’ll have something approximating Muramasa. The complex design of backdrops and characters create some of the most striking 2D visuals to yet grace the Wii, while combat is intuitive and challenging. The plot – a quest for the ultimate sword – plays second fiddle to the enemyjuggling combos and general carnage dealt by samurais Kisuke and Momohime, while some of the bosses need to be seen to be believed. Well worth checking out for fighter aficionados.
