In its day, the Silent Hill series was the king of the survival-horror genre. But its crown has slipped thanks to lacklustre titles and a slew of spookier rivals.
Homecoming, the sixth instalment, treads a fine line between paying homage to the series’ past and trying to develop the game’s scope. Our hero is soldier Alex Shepherd, who returns from the battlefield to find his brother and father missing and his mother in a catatonic state. Everything looks as pretty as blood-spattered mutant foes can, but there’s a feeling of déjà vu here. Entertaining, but hardly ground-breaking.Reuse content
