Star Wars: the Force Unleashed aims to bridge the narrative gap between episodes three and four, explaining Darth Vader’s rise to power at the same time as training gamers to become his secret apprentice.

It’s an impressive cocktail of combat and adventuring, especially in the open environments where this game shines. There are dark moments, though, when the game’s mechanics fail to live up to its concepts. However, when it’s good, The Force Unleashed is a treat for Star Wars fans and entertaining for everyone else.
