Nintendo has been king of the perky platformer for decades and Wario Land: Shake It! has all the hallmarks of the Japanese giant’s expertise.

Stylish, swiftly paced and charming, this might not be at the cutting edge of games design, but it is incredibly enjoyable to play. Wario tears round gathering treasure in a bid to rescue the game’s inevitable kidnapped female, aided by frantic shaking of the Wii remote. With its handdrawn graphics and spot on controls, Shake It! is straight-forward fun that will appeal to platform fans of all ages.
