Microsoft have announced that one of gaming’s most iconic heroes, the Master Chief, will return on 6 November as Halo 4, the first release in a brand new Halo saga is released.

As the first brand new Halo to be developed since Bungie, the series’ creator, and Microsoft parted company the responsibility of development has fallen to 343 Industries; with the project headed-up by Frank O’Connor – previously content manager at Bungie – who has promised a new level of both visual and gameplay from the new saga which resumes four years after the events in Halo 3.

“We are beginning a new saga with Halo 4 and embarking on a journey that will encompass the next decade of Halo games and experiences,” said Phil Spencer, corporate vice president of Microsoft Studios. “Millions of fans worldwide have been eagerly awaiting the opportunity to step back into the boots of Master Chief, and with Halo 4 leading the charge, we’re confident 2012 will be the most successful year in Xbox history.”
