Google and Apple calendars show you the best time to pencil in an appointment
Tuesday 07 June 2011
Google and Apple have announced new calendar features that reveal the best time to book an appointment in your busy schedule.
In a June 6 blog post Google Software Engineer Irene Chung revealed how a new feature called appointment slots can help individuals and businesses manage appointment availability within Google Calendar.
Google's appointment slots work like a 24/7 online booking service. Users can embed their personal appointments sign-up page on a website or share the URL with friends and clients.
"To get started," said Irene Chung, "set up blocks of time you'd like to offer as appointment slots. Simply click anywhere on your calendar and then on 'Appointment slots.' From there, create a single block of time or automatically split a larger block of time into smaller appointment slots."
One of the less prominent features found within Apple's forthcoming Mac OS X Lion update is Calendar Heat Map.
Apple's iCal Heat Map "displays a map using colors to represent availability for each day, so you can see which days have more activities," explains Apple on a webpage introducing some of the new features found on Mac OS X Lion.
