How to watch Apple's September 1 press conference live on the web

Eager to find out what new products and services Apple will be announcing at its September 1 press event?

You can catch all the action live as it happens. Here's how:

To watch Apple's event, point your internet-connected Mac running OS X 10.6 with Apple's Safari web browser, or iPad, iPhone or iPod Touch running iOS 3 or higher (sorry Windows and Linux users, you will have to cozy up to an Apple user or tune in to one of the web-based live-blogging events if you want to watch the event live) in the direction of http://www.apple.com/

The event will start at 10 AM PDT (5 PM GMT) on September 1 at the Yerba Buena Center for the Arts in San Francisco, USA.

Apple's annual fall event has previously been home to the unveiling of updated iPods and discussions about Apple's future music and media strategies.

This year analysts and technology bloggers predict Apple will show off an updated iPod Touch model with improvements such as a front-facing camera, the ability to make FaceTime video calls over WiFi using an email address instead of a phone number, and a retina display.

According to an August 31 article by Bloomberg, Apple is also "preparing to announce a new set-top box that delivers video to consumers' TVs." The $99 device will include programming from Netflix Inc., said Bloomberg's three sources.

Apple is also tipped to announce longer 60- to 90-second sample clips of songs for users wanting to listen before buying, 99-cent TV show rentals from Fox and ABC plus a range of other new iTunes features.

If you don't have an Apple device to watch the event on, you can tune in to these web-based live blogging events to catch up on all the news:
