American coffee chain Starbucks has been advertising a  ‘happy hour' on its trademarked ice frappuccino beverages since May 6 . The marketing promotion has proved successful attracting several thousands of Facebook fans over the last few days. Mattel's Barbie doll has also been experiencing a surge of popularity over the last few days.

The Starbucks coffee brand has several official Facebook pages including one for its ‘frappuccino' range of ice drinks through which it advertises the ‘frappuccino happy hour', - where the drinks are being  sold for half price over a limited time period.  

According to the Starbucks frappuccino Facebook page the ‘happy hour' started on May 6, takes place in " participating stores" - including those outside of the US, and continues until May 15. 

The frappuccino Facebook page - ( http://www.facebook.com/Frappuccino ) has been attracting several thousands of new Facebook fans per day.  

As of May 12, the frappaccino Facebook page is the third largest ‘product brand pages' in terms of new  Facebook ‘fans today',  according to data from social media monitoring site www.fanpagelist.com

In total the frappuccino page has over six million fans whereas the official Facebook page of Starbuck coffee has over 23 million; data from Famecount  shows that the Starbucks Facebook page, on which fans frequently mention the ‘happy hour', has also performed well this week .

Barbie's Facebook page was also popular on May 11 and 12 , the internationally recognizable doll often posts regular ‘status updates' on her Facebook page frequently relating to her life with Ken and often alluding to real world events. Barbie's Facebook page is available via: http://www.facebook.com/barbie .

As of Thursday, May 12, the ten biggest product brands on Facebook terms of "fans today", according to fanpagelist.com, were:
