As we noted in our breakdown of the iPhone 5s, most of the camera changes are hardware-based including a new dual-tone LED flash. However, the new camera interface does feel a lot snappier (sorry) and gives users the impression that they're in a separate app, rather than using part of the OS. Perhaps Apple is trying to trick people into staying away from 3rd party cameras? In-house apps can feel a bit basic sometimes and they might be trying to avoid that vibe. With extra filters and 'new' square photo options, they've certainly got new functionality.
