iPad mini 2: Leaks start with an alleged 'space grey' case
New 7.9-inch tablet expected to be unveiled by Apple next month
Wednesday 25 September 2013
Now that the iPhone 5s and 5c have been officially released to a frankly rabid public the next batch of Apple rumours have started to circulate - this time concerning the next iPad mini.
The original iPad mini was announced in October last year and it’s expected that an upgraded device (cunningly codenamed the iPad mini 2) will be unveiled next month, with rumours currently suggesting 15 October as a possible launch date.
The latest leaks have suggested that it will be available in space grey – the same slate-like colouring available for the new iPhone 5s (though there have been no rumours about a ‘gold’ option, which proved unexpectedly popular for the 5s).
Tech site nowhereelse.fr has nabbed pictures of what it claims is the new case.
It’s a near certainty that the new iPad mini will be lighter and faster than its predecessor and it’s thought the screen will also be improved – perhaps borrowing the 2,048 x 1,536 resolution used by its bigger brother, but fitting this into the mini’s 7.9-inch screen.
However, when the original iPad had its screen upgraded to Apple's Retina standard it actually got a little thicker - the same could happen to the mini 2.
