The latest song from musical comedy troupe Lonely Island, features legendary singer Michael Bolton whose alleged Jack Sparrow obsession ruins a fake rap band's otherwise serious song.
Comprised of Akiva Schaffer, Jorma Taccone and Andy Samberg, Lonely Island is well known for its musical comedy and parodies of popular pop songs.
The video for Lonely Island's latest song - - "Jack Sparrow" (feat. Michael Bolton) - shows the boys pretending to be a hip-hop band recording a song with legendary songwriter Michael Bolton.
During the video American singer Michael Bolton enters the studio, mentions he has been watching the Pirates of the Caribbean movie series, which famously stars Johnny Depp as the pirate Captain Jack Sparrow, and then proceeds to record the song.
The song begins with Lonely Island's lyrics increasingly parodying references to violence, women and 'street' culture often associated with hip-hop, before Michael Bolton appears, standing on a desert island, singing about Jack Sparrow.
Much to the annoyance of Lonely Island, Michael Bolton continues to interrupt the hip-hop song with references to the Pirates of the Caribbean films, singing backing lines such as 'Davey Jones' and 'giant squid.'
Micheal Bolton then goes on to reference 1994 film Forrest Gump and dress up as main characters from the films Erin Brockovich and Scarface.
As of 10am GMT May 9, the video had attracted 835,211 views after being uploaded on May 7, and, according to YouTube statistics is currently the "number one most discussed" comedy video in the world.
