The BBC are to release a trailer for the upcoming PC and Mac Doctor Who: The Adventure Games after the new episode is aired in the UK on the evening of Saturday, April 17. The 45-minute episode, "Victory of the Daleks," starts at 6:30PM BST.

The BBC are throwing the full weight of their scriptwriting and production talent behind the downloadable titles, with current executive producer and writer Steven Moffat taking on chief production duties, joined by fellow top dogs Anwen Aspden, Piers Wenger, and Beth Willis.

Piers demonstrated the BBC's commitment to both TV series and video game experience by saying that the four adventures, to be given away as free downloads from June, should be considered integral to the current 13-episode run, bringing the series total up to 17.

Stars of the show Matt Smith and Karen Gillan will reprise their roles as Doctor Who's eleventh incarnation and his able assistant Amy Pond. Crucially, series scriptwriters Phil Ford and James Moran are also on board to pen the adventures.

As for the computer game aspect, design and programming duties are to be handled by Sumo Digital of Sheffield, whose recent releases include Virtua Tennis 2009 and Sonic & SEGA All-Stars Racing, as well as updates to the classic OutRun franchise.

Charles Cecil, who is extremely well respected for his work on Beneath a Steel Sky and the Broken Sword adventure games, is also joining the production team. 1994's Beneath a Steel Sky had such a following that it was re-released on iPhone as the critically acclaimed Beneath a Steel Sky Remastered 15 years after it first saw the light of day.

The trailer for Doctor Who: The Adventure Game will also be hosted on the BBC's website at
