Products made by Sony, Apple, Dell and ASUS were among the 50 products chosen for the coveted International Forum (iF) product design "best in competition" gold awards on March 2.

The annual award ceremony took place on the opening day of the world's largest digital IT and telecommunications event, CeBIT. The international jury took two days to examine more than 2,486 entries, finally deciding on 50 stunning examples of design across 16 categories.

The winning products were chosen for their "design quality, level of finish, choice of materials, degree of innovation, environmental friendliness, functionality, ergonomics, visualisation of intended use, safety, branding and brand value and aspects of universal design."

Products made by consumer electronics companies ranked highly among the gold award winners with companies such as Sony, Loewe, Apple and iRiver receiving multiple awards for their innovative and beautifully designed products.

The winning products will be featured in the iF product design award exhibition that runs from March through to September at the Hannover exhibition center.
