Search engine giant Google has marked US Independence Day in the with an interactive Google Doodle.

The holiday, which commemorates the signing of the Declaration of Independence, has been celebrated every July 4th for 237 years.

The Google Doodle, only visible in the US, features a family of animated dogs making a road trip across the US.

The doodle features them in a series of 13 locations across the US including Mount Rushmore and the Statue of Liberty.

Google has produced a doodle for Independence Day since 2000, making it the second most honoured holiday behind Thanksgiving.
