@HCLINTZ: Hillary Clinton - the internet’s most popular pantsuit lover
Hillary Clinton’s witty arrival to Twitter this week played out like a masterclass for politicians. First up there was her Twitter bio. She started fairly conventionally with “Wife, mom, lawyer, women & kids advocate, FLOAR, FLOTUS, US Senator, SecState, author, dog owner” before throwing in “hair icon, pantsuit aficionado, glass ceiling cracker, TBD [to be decided]...”, the latter possibly hinting at her plans for 2016. Yes, Hill.
Then she used her first tweet to give a shout-out to the two creators of “Texts from Hillary”, the internet meme that used a picture of the then-Secretary of State, alongside fantasy text exchanges with other influential figures (Clinton was always busier and more important than whoever she messaged). “Thanks for the inspiration”, she tweeted the creators. “I’ll take it from here… #tweetsfromhillary”. Naturally, she is using the now-famous photo as her Twitter profile pic. So far she’s only following her husband, daughter and various Clinton initiatives, but she has been warmly welcomed by the Twittersphere.
Barack Obama’s account even tweeted her a message of support. But just like the kickass persona imagined by the makers of “Texts from Hillary”, Clinton is yet to get back to the President.
