The confusion of iPhone 6 release dates and launch dates has led to a fair few people probably mistakenly camping outside Apple stores earlier than is necessary, because while the phones are already on their way to retailers you'll have to wait over a week to get your hands on one.

19 September is the official release date for both the 4.7-inch iPhone 6 and 5.5-inch iPhone 6 Plus, with pre-orders starting on 12 September.

This is the case for the UK, US, Australia, Canada, France, Germany, Hong Kong, Japan and Puerto Rico at least, with other countries having to wait for a release date that has yet to be confirmed.

Apple Pay meanwhile, the newly built-in NFC technology that will allow for contactless payments, will only be available to iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus customers in the US at first, as part of an iOS 8 update this October.

iPhone 6 prices range between £539 and £699 depending on what storage capacity you want (16GB up to 128GB), while the Plus starts at £619 and the most expensive version is £789.
