Weekly high-tech product releases: a fridge with internet, 3D TVs, designer headphones

High-tech product releases announced the week ending March 10 include a fridge that connects to the internet, 3D TVs and home cinema systems from Samsung and LG, a digital camera with interchangeable lenses and a rotating touchscreen display, designer headphones that can be customized according to your music tastes, and a convertible headset that connects to your computer.

A connected fridge that can be used to surf the internet
Samsung's Zipel e-Diary is a high-tech, feature-rich fridge designed for people who want to be connected to the web at all times. The high-end fridge comes complete with a 10-inch touchscreen display and can connect to the internet using built-in WiFi. The touchscreen can be used to take notes (or to keep a digital shopping list), display your digital photos, keep you up to date with your schedule with Google Calendar, show you what the weather is like outside, and to keep you informed of the nutritional content of more than 500 different kinds of food. The fridge will be sold in South Korea for a price of 2.49 million won ($2170 / €1615).

Turn your living room into a 3D cinema with the world's first available 3D LED TVs
Samsung unveiled their lineup of 3D TVs, Blu-ray players and sound systems this week urging consumers to turn their homes into a 3D cinema. The world's first available 3D TV range from Samsung includes the LED 7000/8000/9000 Series, the LCD 750 Series, and the Plasma 7000/8000 Series. Prices range from $1999.99 for the 40" C7000 3D TV to $6999.99 for the flagship 55 inch C9000 3D TV. The LED C7000 46" and 55" TVs will be available from next month while the rest of the range is expected to be released globally during the next few months.

Active shutter TVs that will take you into the world of 3D TV
LG also announced their lineup of TVs this week including their highly anticipated LX9900 LED 3D TV. The system uses an active shutter system. This allows consumers to view an HD 1080p image in each eye. The TVs also include Skype video calling and LG's Netcast Entertainment Access for direct web access via your TV. According to reports, the 47" will be priced at around £2500-£3000, ($3740 / €2741 - $4487 / €3289) whilst the 55" will sell for between £3600-£4000 ($5385 / €3946 - $5981 /€4386).

A digital camera with interchangeable lenses and touch-controlled movable LCD
Panasonic's LUMIX DMC-G2 is the world's first camera to combine an interchangeable lens system with a movable LCD touchscreen panel. The camera builds on Panasonic's popular LUMIX G1 camera, adding touch control and 720p HD video. The LUMIX DMC-G2 Micro Four Thirds camera is a device that sits in between professional DSLRs and digital point-and-shoot cameras. Pricing and availability will be announced 30 days before the camera starts shipping.

Rock on with custom made designer headphones
Cutting-edge technology and design company Freedom Of Creation collaborated with Brian Garret Schuur to develop rapid manufactured headphones with a customizable headband. Consumers can personalize the 3D headbands with the names of their favorite musicians, song lyrics or any creative use of text they like. The headphones can be ordered from the freedomofcreation.com online shop. They are priced at €997 each and are delivered to your door in approximately 14 weeks.

Stylish convertible headphones that let you talk and listen
Sony's 'dual use PC headsets are designed for multipurpose usage. They provide decent quality sound for listening to music and have a high-quality omnidirectional microphone module so you can chat to friends using VoIP or play multi-player games. When not using the mic, the "voice tube" can be removed. The 30mm driver headphones are light and durable and have a USB adaptor so you can plug them straight into the computer. The headsets will be available in April. No price has been announced.
