Traffic Rush is the most popularly downloaded free iPhone application for the week of December 7.

The top free application by country* for the week, by number of downloads, recorded on December 7:

1. US
Traffic Rush (games)

Traffic Rush is another free game produced by iPhone application developer Donut Games. Players have to direct vehicles across busy city streets using their fingers to make the traffic accelerate or break at the intersection. Quick thinking and swift fingers are needed to avoid road accidents. The intersection will become jam-packed with cars, bikes and trucks trying to get across if your fingers are not fast enough.

2. Germany
Wer Wird Millionär Trainingslager (games)

The Wer Wird Millionär Trainingslager ("Who Wants To Be a Millionaire Training Camp" in English) application provides training questions for wannabe game show contestants. Players can test their skills against real opponents with the "multiplayer mode" or see if they could have beaten prior contestants in broadcast versions of the Who Wants To Be a Millionaire TV show with an archive of over 18,000 questions featured on previous versions of the TV show.

3. France
Photoshop.com Mobile (photography)

Photoshop.com Mobile is a free, iPhone version of the widely used photo-editing program, Photoshop made by American multimedia software developer, Adobe. Those who are familiar with the in-depth editing tools on the computer-based version of Photoshop may find the iPhone version provides limited editing options. But, after all, it is a free download and has been designed to offer mainstream users with easy-to-use, on-the-go photo editing tools. Photoshop.com Mobile enables users to crop, rotate, flip or add special effect filters to their images using gesture-based editing. Photo saturation, tint, exposure, and vibrancy can also be enhanced before photos are uploaded to the included 2GB of free online photo storage available at photoshop.com (sign-up required).

Budding pianists can learn to play the piano on their iPhone using the Piano Man iPhone app. The application displays easy instructions on the iPhone screen helping young kids or adults new to the musical world tap out a song on their phone. A results section will enable you to check on your performance and see if you are improving. There is also an in-app store so users can update their library of PianoMan songs.

8. Italy
Mobile 3TV (entertainment)

Mobile 3TV is a free TV-streaming application released by mobile operator 3. The application provides viewers with a mixture of different channels. Some channels (such as The 3, The Movie 3 and 3 Live) are available to watch for free while others (Bouquet Sky News, Cartoon Network and Champions league) require users to pay a monthly fee. The service can only be watched over a 3G connection (users will have to turn off their WiFi connection to use the app). There is also an inbuilt TV guide.

9. Switzerland
Schweizer Fernsehen (news)

Schweizer Fernsehen (Swiss Television in English) is a company that distributes German-language television programs to people living in German-speaking parts of Switzerland. The new application builds on the company's YouTube channel and TV portal offering a selection of national, international and sports news in both text and video formats and up-to-date weather reports.
