With over 200 million Mills & Boon books sold every year, they must be doing something right. And now, with the launch of free Mills & Boon eBooks, reading romantic fiction has never been more accessible.
Mills & Boon stories offer the whole range of romantic escapism - from Mediterranean billionaire's and their mega-yachts, to Twilight-style vampire romance (part of the recently launched Nocturne series). This 101 year-old publisher is certainly not stuck in the past, and their wholehearted embrace of eBooks has proved popular with readers of all ages.
"It was a bold move to publish our entire catalogue as eBooks in addition to paper versions, but it’s paid off," says Tim Cooper, director of direct and digital marketing at Mills & Boon. "We always believed in eBooks, and it's great to see our readership enjoying this convenient and instant way of buying content and reading our stories."
Once dismissed as a fad, eBooks are now widely accepted as a major element in the future of publishing. Only this week, eBooks of Dan Brown's latest title have outsold paper copies. In Japan, five of the Top 10 books are written on mobile phones, and consumers now expect instant, convenient content on demand.
"We've listened to our readers," explains Tim Cooper. "eBooks are here to stay, and our strong sales have shown that demand is high for the format."
In addition to eBooks, Mills & Boon have redeveloped their website - www.millsandboon.co.uk - to include a Facebook-style community, where fans can discuss the books and get writing tips and advice from top authors and editors.
To celebrate their new eBook range, Mills & Boon are giving everyone the chance to download 10 free eBooks from www.everyonesreading.com. They've also teamed up with eReader company Cool-ER ( www.coolreaders.co.uk) to offer Independent readers the opportunity to win a Cool-ER eBook Reader to enjoy Mills & Boon - and other - eBooks on.
