'World's thinnest television' released

Tomorrow will see the launch of the Sony BRAVIA ZX1, a new LCD television with a HD display less then a centimetre in depth. The display, which is as slim as a CD case, is being claimed by its manufacturers to be the thinnest on any production television set.

The technology behind the model involves using side-mounted LEDs to illuminate the screen instead of the usual backlight array. The television also ships with "1080 wireless" technology, allowing images to be streamed to the television remotely from a set-top box.

BAFTA award winning film maker Tal Rosner was commissioned by Sony to produce the video below from footage of some of the world's top TV events to mark the model's release.
