Nokia introduced a new service that lets you create your own turn-by-turn vocal instructions for Ovi Maps.
"If you like the sound of your own voice, or are simply fed up of being told what to do, then Own Voice for Ovi Maps is just for you," explained Nokia in a May 4 blog post. "Own Voice lets you record and share your own navigation instructions for Ovi Maps, directly from your Nokia."
To create your Own Voice navigation instructions, Nokia-equipped consumers simply record each of the 53 required commands on their device, add their name and save. The voice pack is then uploaded to the Own Voice website from where you can share your creative directions with others.
Nokia Ovi Maps users looking to download a voice pack from the Own Voice site can expect to find many more occurrences of the "chuck a right here" and "it's right in front of ya mate" directions that were originally seen on the Google Maps Australia website on April Fools Day.
The Own Voice for Ovi Maps application is available in English as a free download from the Ovi Store. The app will work with all Nokia devices capable of supporting Ovi Maps 3.03.Reuse content
