Obama's tongue-in-cheek response to "birthers" gets 3 million views: viral video spotlight

During US President Obama's address at the 2011 White House Correspondents' Dinner, the President pokes fun at Fox News, the so-called "birthers" and even Matt Damon. The video has attracted over three million views since being uploaded on Saturday, April 30.
The video, titled " President Obama at the 2011 White House Correspondents' Dinner," follows the controversy that led the White House to release the President's birth certificate and silence the "birthers," a group of Americans including Donald Trump who called into question Obama's nationality.
The video, which is 18 minutes long, had gained nearly 3.5 million views as of April 2, making it the "most watched today," "most discussed today" and "‘top rated today" among videos on YouTube.
The video's popularity is most likely due to Obama's constant tongue-in-cheek comments regarding, among other things, the issue of his birth certificate. The President goes so far as to play footage from Disney movie The Lion King, claiming it is a video of his birth, before pointing out to Fox News that this is, in fact, a joke.
Obama and his press team then go on to get laughs with the screening of a fake "movie trailer" of the issues facing Obama after the loss of his teleprompter; the trailer uses the tag line "from the people who bought you universal health care and the backlash against universal healthcare."

The President's popularity is thought to have sky-rocketed following the news that US forces operating in Pakistan had killed Al-Qaeda leader Osama bin Laden.
