Rapper takes King of Pop's crown to become most popular celebrity on Facebook

Between February 28 and March 1, rapper Eminem over took deceased pop star Michael Jackson to become the most popular celebrity, alive or dead, on social networking site Facebook.
According to Facebook monitoring site famecount.com Michael Jackson held the title of most popular celebrity on Facebook for the previous 20 months after overtaking US President Barack Obama in July 2009.
However, according to Famecount and other social media monitoring sites such as fanpagelist.com, Eminem has now surpassed the former pop star and is now the most popular person, living or dead, on the social networking site.

Facebook page has been who has been attracting an average of nearly 100,000 "likes" per day, looks likely to continue to grow in popularity, leading social media watchers to predict that Eminem will become the first person in history to achieve 30 million Facebook "likes."
According to Famecount as of 9am GMT on March 1, the rapper's facebook page had a total of 29,389,321 "likes"; this had increased to 29,397,585 by 2:00pm GMT, while Michael Jackson had 29,361,200 at the same time.
Eminem, whose real name is Marshall Bruce Mathers III, shot to fame with the release of the 1999 debut album The Slim Shady LP; the artist also starred in the 2002 semi-autobiographical film 8 Mile.
