Twitter is buzzing with the news that software company Adobe has launched a public preview (and free download) of its HTML5-rich internet app creation tool called Adobe Edge.

Microbloggers say the release of Adobe Edge will be the end of the company’s own multimedia platform Adobe Flash.

"Currently downloading Adobe Edge, looking forward to seeing what it has to offer designers," tweets an early adopter.

Twitter is also filling with posts about the start of Ramadan, the annual Islamic month of fasting that is held during the ninth month of the Islamic calendar.

"Try not tweeting about food!" say those already observing the religious festival while others add, "Let's begin with the purest of intentions to take full advantage of this blessed month...."

On the first day of August, Twitter's top trending topics are also filled by the four hashtags "#deal," "#arentyoutiredof," "#dearyoungself" and "#thereisalwaysthat1person."

Tweeps getting an early start on their Christmas wish lists have claimed the sixth place term on the chart, "Dear Santa," and are using their 140 characters to share the items they would like to receive from Santa.

The MTV dating show " Disaster Date" is in eighth place, the film " Saving Private Ryan" is in ninth place and "Take Care" makes it into the last place on the list.

The top 10 most talked about topics on Twitter on August 1 at 7:30 AM GMT are:
