Twitter index: Teen Choice Awards nominations announced, French journalists freed

Tweeps are discussing their favorite candidates for the "Teen Choice Awards" on the morning of June 30.

Since the nominees were announced, the microblogs have been filling with posts about which actors, musicians and sports people should win.

"#ANewMcDFavorite" is promoted by fast food chain McDonalds at the top of the chart, while the hashtags "#5thingsyoucantdo," "#ialwayswantedtobea" and "#whatmakesablackgirlmad" fill the following three positions.

Twitter users are looking for "Mrs Right" on the microblogs, but also for the video of American boy band Mindless Behavior's latest single "Mrs. Right."

Rumors that American voice actor Tom Kenny, famous for the voice behind SpongeBob SquarePants, is dead are spreading across Twitter. Some users are fueling the untruths while others try to squash the rumors.

French journalists "Stéphane Taponier" and "Hervé Ghesquière" are back in Paris after 18 months spent in captivity in Afghanistan.

"So happy for Hervé Ghesquière and Stéphane Taponier, they are now free after 547 days in captivity. Can't even imagine" and "Hervé Ghesquière and Stéphane Taponier, two French journalists held in hostage for 2 years in #Afghanistan have been liberated," read tweets celebrating their return to Paris.

The name of British politician "Francis Maude" is in ninth place.
