Weekly high-tech product releases: FinePix X100, Nikon D7000, Samsung NX100

High-tech product releases announced the week ending September 22 include Fujifilm's retro-looking FinePix X100 camera, Samsung's mirrorless NX100 interchangeable lens camera, Panasonic's hybrid touch-control Lumix GH2 digital camera, Nikon's powerful D7000 D-SLR, the world's first interchangeable 3D lens, the world's lightest interchangeable single focal length lens, Sony's compact Bloggie Touch Mobile HD snap camera, and a smartphone-like mobile for emerging markets.

A futuristic point-and-shoot camera in a retro-styled body
Fujifilm's designers looked to the past when crafting the FinePix X100 digital camera. The retro-styled compact point-and-shoot provides users with advanced features, a 12.3 megapixel CMOS sensor, 23mm f/2 lens and a hybrid viewfinder. The FinePix X100 will go on sale in spring 2011, pricing is yet to be announced.

An innovative mirrorless camera with the the world's first i-Function lens
Samsung's compact interchangeable lens camera, the NX100, made an appearance during the company's press event. The mirrorless interchangeable lens camera comes with a 14.6 MP sensor, a 3.0 inch OLED display, 720p HD video recording, and the world's first i-Function lens. Samsung revealed the camera will start shipping in October for around $599 with a 20-50mm lens bundle.

A hybrid touch-control camera that can capture 3D images
Panasonic unveiled the Lumix GH2, a hybrid touch-control digital camera with full 1080p HD video recording and compatibility with the company's recently announced interchangeable 3D lens. The camera provides intuitive touch-control operation and touch auto focus, variable frame rate recording for creative cinematic effects, has a 16.05 MP sensor and can simultaneously record video and capture photos. The Lumix GH2 will be available in early December starting from $899.95.

A durable and functional high performance D-SLR
Nikon's D7000 is D-SLR built for photographers who want high levels of control and exceptional performance in a (relatively-speaking) compact form factor. It has an impressive 16.2 MP image sensor, shoots at up to 6 frames per second (for those high-speed action shots), has twin SD card slots, and can capture up to 20 minutes of 1080p HD video with continuous autofocus. The D7000 is set to start shipping by mid-October starting from $1199.95 (body only).

The world's first interchangeable 3D lens

Panasonic's Lumix G 12.5mm / F12 (H-FT012) is a twin digital lens system for Micro Four Thirds System cameras. The lens enables consumers with an interchangeable lens camera to shoot in 3D without having to purchase a stand alone 3D camera. The 3D lens will become available to the public in November for $249.95.

The world's lightest interchangeable single focal length lens
Panasonic's newly announced Lumix G 14 mm / F2.5 ASPH lens (H-H014) is the world's lightest interchangeable single focal length lens. The H-H014 lens will start selling in November for $399.95.

A fun all-in-one HD camera that make sharing easy

Sony's Bloggie Touch Mobile HD snap camera (the MHS-TS20K) is a compact device that helps users to capture and share video and photos across the web. It has a built-in USB arm for easier sharing, a 3 inch touchscreen, and captures 12.8 MP images and HD videos. The Bloggie Touch MHS-TS20K mobile HD snap camera will be available in November. Pricing is yet to be confirmed.

An accessible smartphone-like mobile for the emerging markets
Nokia is eager to help people living in emerging markets connect to the internet with its new C3 Touch and Type device. The C3 combines a touch screen with the "more familiar" numeric keypad and also offers 3G and WLAN connectivity, a 5 megapixel camera with flash, a music player, FM radio, support for up to 32GB of memory, email, and access to applications in the Ovi store. The C3 is due to make it onto the market by Q4 of 2010 and will be priced starting at around €145.
