Belfast International Festival

The largest cultural festival in Europe outside of Edinburgh, the Belfast International Festival in October 1999 offers a similar diet of weird and wonderful events.

T in The Park, Glasgow

The second weekend in July sees Scotland's largest music festival, with at least six stages and hundreds of performers. Only the weather (and rarely even that) can dampen this live music extravaganza.

T by The River, Belfast

Second weekend in July. Belfast's answer to The Park. Moved from the Botanical Gardens due to unprecedented demand, expect this yearly event to grow and grow.

Jazz 2000, Scotland

A year-long promotion of jazz music and culture throughout Scotland. Many events, workshops and concerts are planned with special events coinciding with Glasgow's JazzFest in July and Edinburgh's in August.

Tramway re-opening, Glasgow

Provisionally pencilled in for March 2000, this huge arts and performance space is due to have building work completed for a new season of multi- media performances and exhibitions.

DCA, Dundee

Dundee gets in on the contemporary arts scene, with a long overdue centre dedicated to performance and exhibitions of all kinds. Due to open before Christmas.
