A hospital faces a lawsuit from more than 20 families who claim their relatives suffered "appalling and humiliating" treatment.

The law firm Leigh Day & Co will argue that the standard of care at Redditch's Alexandra Hospital breached the human rights of several patients, including a 73-year-old man whose ribs are alleged to have been "broken open" by the use of a hoist after heart surgery.

Worcestershire Acute Hospitals NHS Trust said it would act if care fell below standard.
