Game helmet fears

Virtual reality helmets for home use will go on sale in Britain later this year despite concern that they may have long-term effects on health, especially eyesight. The helmets, which are already used in games arcades, place two tiny TV screens a few centimetres from the user's eyes, and use an electromagnetic system to produce a three-dimensional image. Safety experts fear that long-term wear at home may lead to eye problems and disorientation, according to a report in New Scientist.
