ANYONE allergic to latex rubber should be avoid eating bananas, say doctors from the Fitzsimons Army Medical Center in Aurora, Colorado. They describe the case of a 36-year-old woman who became seriously ill after eating a banana; she had previously developed an allergy to latex following spinal surgery. Tests suggest allergy to banana and latex is due to the presence of a common protein, says their report in the Annals of Allergy.
