FAMILIES of schizophrenics should allow them to sit alone in their rooms and not insist that they join in family life, according to specialists. Research from the United States, reported in the British Journal of Psychiatry, shows that behaviour therapy for such families can help schizophrenics, by reducing the critical comments and hostility that their relatives show.
