SEX is safe after a stroke - but people on anti-hypertensive drugs should take them before intercourse to avoid raised blood pressure, says a leaflet from the Stroke Association.

Sex After Stroke Illness encourages patients to resume sexual relationships. It points out that some drugs to lower blood pressure can affect sexual response, but says anyone who has this problem should consult a GP since alternatives are available.

The leaflet is available free by sending a 9in by 6in SAE to the Stroke Association, CHSA House, Whitecross Street, London EC1Y 8JJ.
